CERN Accelerating science

Marcel Zeiler

ICE-DIP Early Stage Researcher
Competence center:

Marcel holds a B.Sc. in physics from the Free University of Berlin and a M.Sc. in physics from the Technical University of Berlin. During his studies and before joining CERN he was employed as a research assistant in the Photonic Components department at the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute for Telecommunications in Berlin. For his master’s thesis he conducted research on directly modulated diode lasers for optical data communications. In October 2013 he joined CERN as a fellow within the framework of the Intel-CERN European Doctorate Industrial Program. He will investigate the applicability of silicon photonic devices for their application as optical data transmitters in the harsh environment of high energy physics experiments as present at LHC.
